Top 13 BEST Movies of the 2010s…In No Particular Order!

Even though this decade is only halfway done (WHAT?!?!) there have been plenty of awesome films that have come out. This one is a little easier to countdown since there are few movies to choose from, but if the next half of the decade is the same, this decade will have topped all other decades with favorites!! The Top 13 BEST Movies of the 2010s begin now!

Top 13 BEST Movies of the 2010s

1. The Avengers (2012)

The Avengers

Funny, action-packed, and a collection of great actors and characters grace the scene with this awesome flick. The description IMDb gives is “Earth’s mightiest heroes must come together and learn to fight as a team if they are to stop the mischievous Loki and his alien army from enslaving humanity.”

2. Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

Guardians of the Galaxy

At first, I wasn’t too sure of this movie. But it turns out I actually LOVE it. It’s funny, quick-witted, and full of action. The description IMDb gives is “A group of intergalactic criminals are forced to work together to stop a fanatical warrior from taking control of the universe.”

3. X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)

X-Men Days of Future Past

This is probably the BEST movie in the X-Men franchise. The graphics, storyline, and mix of both old and new characters means this film is top notch! The description IMDb gives is “The X-Men send Wolverine to the past in a desperate effort to change history and prevent an event that results in doom for both humans and mutants.”

4. The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012)

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

What an emotional rollercoaster about suicide, being an outcast, and finding your place in this crazy world. The description IMDb gives is “An introvert freshman is taken under the wings of two seniors who welcome him to the real world.”

5. Life of Pi (2012)

Life of Pi

I was hesitant to put this one on the list because of the “twist.” This was quite the disturbing film when you figure out what is going on, but the graphics are beautiful, amazing, modern. The description IMDb gives is “A young man who survives a disaster at sea is hurtled into an epic journey of adventure and discovery. While cast away, he forms an unexpected connection with another survivor: a fearsome Bengal tiger.”

6. Silver Linings Playbook (2012)

Silver Linings Playbook

Seriously one of my favorite movies of all time. Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence NAIL their performances of psychologically challenged individuals who fall in love. The description IMDb gives is “After a stint in a mental institution, former teacher Pat Solitano moves back in with his parents and tries to reconcile with his ex-wife. Things get more challenging when Pat meets Tiffany, a mysterious girl with problems of her own.”

7. Prisoners (2013)

Prisoners

Hugh Jackman is AMAZING in this film. The lengths he goes to in finding his daughter are right up there with what I would do. The twists and turns are compelling and lead to a WHAT?! kind of ending. The description IMDb gives is “When Keller Dover’s daughter and her friend go missing, he takes matters into his own hands as the police pursue multiple leads and the pressure mounts. But just how far will this desperate father go to protect his family?”

8. Edge of Tomorrow (2014)

Edge of Tomorrow

I’ve never been a huge fan of Tom Cruise, but his more recent films are great, including this action-packed, funny film similar to Groundhog’s Day. The description IMDb gives is “A military officer is brought into an alien war against an extraterrestrial enemy who can reset the day and know the future. When this officer is enabled with the same power, he teams up with a Special Forces warrior to try and end the war.”

9. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

This was surprisingly very entertaining! The acting and graphics were top notch, as was the storyline. The description IMDb gives is “Ten years after a pandemic disease, apes who have survived it are drawn into battle with a group of human survivors.”

10. Kick-Ass 2 (2013)

Kick-Ass 2

I really like this second film better than the first. It’s not usually my kind of film, but it was entertaining and full of action. The description IMDb gives is “The costumed high-school hero Kick-Ass joins with a group of normal citizens who have been inspired to fight crime in costume. Meanwhile, the Red Mist plots an act of revenge that will affect everyone Kick-Ass knows.”

11. Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)

Star Trek Into Darkness

The second of the newer Star Trek movies did not disappoint. Full of action and hot guys, it sure not to disappoint! The description IMDb gives is “After the crew of the Enterprise find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one-man weapon of mass destruction.”

12. Les Miserables (2012)

Les Miserables

A modern musical that was beautifully remade. A bit surprised with Russel Crowe and Hugh Jackman singing, but Anne Hathaway blew me away! The description IMDb give is “In 19th-century France, Jean Valjean, who for decades has been hunted by the ruthless policeman Javert after breaking parole, agrees to care for a factory worker’s daughter. The decision changes their lives for ever.”

13. The Conjuring (2013)

The Conjuring

What a great film based on actual events. Horrifying, edge-of-your-seat action that will surely make you jump. The description IMDb gives is “Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren work to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in their farmhouse.”

And there you go. I have rounded out my Top 13 BEST Movies of the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and now the 2010s. Of course I have A LOT more favorite films, but these are the ones that truly stood out and that I remembered easily. All information was obtained from IMDb.
